These DIY Christmas Dish Towels with vintage holiday images are super easy to make and are a gift that friends and family will use!

As Christmas creeps closer and closer, everyone is looking for easy, last-minute DIY Christmas gift ideas!

flour sack towels with red stripe

I usually use white flour sack towels but I found these dish towels with red stripes at Ikea and thought they would work perfectly!  They need to be laundered before starting.  If you don’t have time to run to Ikea, you can pick up plain flour sack towels from Walmart for $1.98 for a 2 pack.

iron on paper transfer

Find images you like and place them on a document or use the one I made from here.  I found these adorable images at The Graphics Fairy.  Then, print the images onto iron on transfer paper, following the instructions on the package.  The most important thing to remember is to use “mirror image”!  I’ve used several brands and have had good results with all of them.

christmas tea towels

Cut out the images and iron them onto the dish towels, again, following the instructions on the package.  I think the most important thing about ironing them on is to apply LOTS of pressure with your iron and to make sure you get the edges really well.  Allow the transfer to cool and then peel off the backing.

Then, just add a cute ribbon and a bell or just hang in your kitchen to use!  If you have plenty of time on your hands, you can even add a ruffle to the bottom of each towel.

Have a great weekend!

So cute! And those images remind me of the printed soaps everyone always had in their powder rooms this time of year when I was little.

I seriously love these towels, so much so that when I have seen ones in the store I have thought to myself “Tonia’s are so much better!”
