I came across this poem and it touched my heart. I knew I wanted to make a Father’s Day gift using it.
So, I found this snapshot of my husband and our son several years ago, walking together on a family vacation in Duluth, MN.
I uploaded it to Picnik (a free online photo manipulation site) and changed the image size to 800×1000 for an 8×10.
Next, I blurred the picture and removed the effect from father and son with the paintbrush.
Then, I made the background black and white and left father and son in color by removing the effect from them with the paintbrush.
Then, I added the poem in the text box.
Last, I added a border.
Now, all I need to do is print the photo and put it in a frame for Father’s Day!
Daddy’s Footsteps

“Walk a Little slower, Daddy.” said a little child so small.
I’m following in your footsteps and I don’t want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast, sometimes they’re hard to see;
So walk a little slower Daddy, for you are leading me.
Someday when I’m all grown up, You’re what I want to be.
Then I will have a little child who’ll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right, and know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy, for I must follow you!!

I love this idea and wish I had the skills to do it. Maybe if I find myself in possession of a spare hour or two I can figure it out – but that’s not honestly likely to happen with 4 kids running around! But I’ll file it in my “someday” box.
