tutu on easter basket
Last Halloween, I made a Tutu Tote for trick-or-treating and I’ve been wanting to make a Tutu Easter Basket using the technique.  I was given the challenge to Build A Basket on a $30.00 Budget for Easter and realized that this was the perfect opportunity to make the Tutu Easter Basket.  Easter is an important religious celebration for me and my family.  We spend the day going to church and having a family dinner.  But I do like to give my kids a basket of treats either before or even after Easter.  This year my kids have already done 2 egg hunts so I’ve been feeling like they have had enough treats!  I decided to put together the Easter basket for my 2 year old niece instead.  She is going to be so excited!  My daughter Vanessa has a special bond with this niece and she is going to love giving it to her.

I was able to find a bunch of super cute things for a 2 year old girl!

Here are all of the things I purchased and I saved $15.41!
tie tule on elastic
To made the tutu for the basket, I used the same technique as I did making the tutu tote.  First, cut a piece of elastic that is long enough to fit around the basket.  Then, cut strips of tulle that are about 8 inches long and 6 inches wide.  Make a loop with a strip of tulle and put it under the piece of elastic.
end of the elastic
Fold the ends of the tulle over the elastic and put them through the loop, which was formed in the step above, and tighten.  Continue doing this until the piece of elastic is full of fluffy tulle.
basket and tutu
Tie the two ends of the elastic together.  I just love the picket fence look of this basket.
add tutu to basket
Slip the tutu around the basket and it looks adorable.  The tulle flower that was already on the basket works perfectly with the tutu!
filling easter eggs
I filled the eggs and those adorable butterfly containers with the treats.

I took the Baby Alive out of the package and arranged everything in the basket.  It all looks so cute!  I am really pleased with everything I found at Kmart.  They had a great selection of Easter items with affordable prices…I mean just look at that cute puppy with bunny ears!
